Our Process
Our twelve step process will work with both the Ministry and the Minister to ensure a healthy relationship and clear expectations. We make no final hiring decisions. Our role is to assist and help the ministry in the search for the minister.
1. Understand the Job Needs
We will work with our client to understand the need through three avenues
- Conversation with the individual or team looking to fill the position
- The ministry would fill out a survey helping them discover the type of person they need to be looking for
- An intense discovery process directed at helping the ministry have a clear understanding of the ministry need.
2. Develop the Job Description
Based on the above steps our team will work with our client to put together a job description based on the ministry need. Here we will outline job responsibilities, requirements, expectations, and duties. Here we will work with the ministry team to develop a job description that is clear, concise, and comprehensive based on the ministry need discovery process.
3. Develop the Compensation Package
Based on multiple facts such as the job description, the ministry context, and the type of person being looked for the next step will be to develop a competitive compensation package. We will work with our client to see what they can afford and what other comparable ministries are offering. This step will help define even more the type of person the ministry should begin looking for.
4. Advertise the Job Opening
Through a myriad of outlets, we will begin advertising the ministry opening. We will contact a number of places where ministers go to look for job openings. Our goal will be to saturate the market letting people know at multiple places the ministry openings that are available to them. We will contact state convention papers, seminaries, and also the Southern Baptist Convention website. In addition to these we will contact our database of ministers who have let us know they are open to new ministry opportunities.
5. Develop a List of Possible Candidates
Immediately our team will begin going through the resumes and contacts. We will match up the resumes with what the ministry discovered through steps one through three. As a person matches up we will connect them with the ministry.
6. Present the List of Candidates to the Ministry Placement Team
As the list becomes populated we will begin to send only the resumes that filter through steps one through three. This will keep the ministry from having to go through scores of resumes trying to weed out who is acceptable and who is not acceptable. Again, our goal is to make the ministry placement process less confusing and burdensome to the ministry.
7. Narrow Down the Candidate List with the Ministry Placement Team
We will work with the ministry to narrow down the candidate list. Here our team will use our experience to ask tougher questions. We will work hard at the resume trying to fairly critique each one. We will never choose for you or tell you what to do, only offer fair and honest evaluation of each candidate. Our goal would be to narrow down the list to three candidates before proceeding with interviews.
8. Coordinate Interviews for the Ministry Placement Team
We will work with the ministry to plan and organize interviews between the candidates. We will provide both the candidate and the ministry exploratory questions to ask during the interviews. We will plan interviews via telephone, in person, or by Skype. We will ask the candidates to submit audio and video that would be applicable to the ministry opening. Our team will walk with the ministry placement team in evaluating each candidate fairly.
9. Organize Background Checks and References
We will run criminal background checks, credit checks, and education background checks on the candidate that is chosen from step eight. We will also coordinate for the ministry placement team to contact the minsters references.
10. Organize Weekend Visit
Once the ministry placement team feels comfortable with their choice, our team will help organize the on sight visit. We will make suggestions as to the types of activities that should go on that weekend. We will work with the ministry placement team to coordinate the weekend to ensure a smooth and easy visit.
11. Negotiate between the Ministry and the Minister
Here we will work with both the minister and the ministry in finalizing a clear, concise, and competitive pay package. The ministry will already have an idea based on step two, but we will work with both the minister and the ministry in developing the pay package. Here we will also finalize the job description for the new minister.
12. Plan In-view of a call Weekend
Finally, we will work with both the minister and the ministry to make sure all the weekend is a success! We will make suggestions and provide material to both as the weekend approaches and unfolds. Our heart will be to make sure this weekend is a time of celebration and rejoicing as God has provided the man or woman of God for the ministry opening!
